We reported earlier that the late director Sachy’s chief associate Jayan Nambiar would direct Vilayath Buddha. Starring Prithviraj in the lead role, the movie is the big-screen adaptation of GR Indugopan’s novel of the same name. A day ago, the movie's music director Jakes Bejoy took to his social media handle to share some pictures confirming that the pre-production works of Vilayath Buddha are on full swing.
“Pictures from the hills of Kandhallur, Marayoor. We are starting the journey of dearest @nambiarjayan’s debut film as director which was also supposed to be Sachy Ettan’s next - #vilayathbudha staring @therealprithvi written by #grindhugopan. It was a much needed get away and thanks so much to producer @sandipsenan and his brother @sangeethsenan for arranging it wonderfully. We were exploring the place, discovering artists and trying to get an emotional connection to the place. So the journey to the land of Anjunaatukar begins…” Jakes Bejoy shared.
The film was supposed to be helmed by late director Sachy, as a follow-up to his Ayyappanum Koshiyum, one of 2020's hits. Owing to the untimely demise of the director, his most trusted chief associate Jayan decided to helm the project. Urvasi Theatres, which backed the national award-winning Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum, bankrolls the film scripted by GR Indugopan and Rajesh Pinnadan. The makers had earlier released an artistic poster of the film too. In an interview writer, GR Indugopan has said that the movie will be made as per the vision of Sachy and that only the directorial duties have been changed.
