It's not uncommon to see regional films being promoted by the respective governments if they are a matter of pride. 'Baahubali-2' is one such film. It has undoubtedly made India take note of the country's second biggest film industry like never before.
A day after commending the magnum opus and the brains/artistes behind it, the Chandrababu Naidu-led Andhra Pradesh government is said to be keen on taking special interest in the film's Oscar nomination.
In 2015, when the first part was released, 'Baahubali-The Beginning' lost the race of nomination to 'Court', a Marathi film made on a shoestring budget. 'Baahubali' was one of the eight films ('PK', 'Haider', 'Kaaka Muttai', etc, among others) under consideration by Film Federation of India. It has to be seen if FFI considers 'Baahubali-2' worthy of being sent for nomination for the year 2016.
