Big B most lovable character Anthony Gonsalves from 1977 'Amar Akbar Anthony' was inspired by real life Goan musician Anthony Gonsalves who started his career as a violinist with Naushad. The gifted musician passed away on Wednesday 18th Janauary 2012.
"Anthony Gonsalves...passes away....talented musician with LP and on his name my character name for Anthony was put..prayers," Big B tweeted his sadness.
Anthony Gonsalves was suffering from pneumonia, he died at the Goa Medical College Wednesday. He was 84.
Laxmikant-Pyarelal, who were the composers of the movie, had dedicated the legendary song "My Name is Anthony Gonsalves" from the movie to the Goan musician, after working with him in the past.
Gonsalves, who also worked with renowned music director S.D. Burman, was also associated with 'Pyaasa', directed by Guru Dutt and B.R. Chopra's iconic film 'Naya Daur'.
Gonsalves is survived by his wife Melita, son Kiran and daughter Laxmi.
