On Tuesday B-town’s veteran star Amitabh Bachchan visited the Oxford University, where he attended a lecture hosted by the Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies (OCHS).

Titled ‘Amitabh Bachchan: Emotion and the Star in Hindi Film’, the special lecture was presented by Rachel Dwyer, an expert on Indian cinema and culture at OCHS.

The session was attended by nearly 300-strong audience, mainly students and people of Indian origin at Oxford.

As part of the lecture, Big B was shown the First Folio of William Shakespeare’s plays at the Bodleian Library and also the manuscript copy of the first English translation of Kalidas' ‘Shakuntala’ by William Jones, dated 1788. Later, the actor attended a formal dinner at the dining hall of Trinity College at Oxford.

Bachchan was also shown around the university and the students there were quite thrilled to such a renowned star in their campus. Sharing about the experience, the 68-year old star wrote in his blog, "I am still reeling under the effect of the Oxford visit and have not been able come away from the keen interest that most British teaching institutions, have shown and continue to do so in the present, towards tradition."

As a matter of fact, it was the first time that Amitabh’s dialogues and songs such as “Kabhi Kabhie” and “Kajra Re” were played at Oxford during the presentation.
