When the title was suggested, trade circles refused to accept it, perhaps taken aback by the negative connotation associated. Weeks later, it has made many a stakeholder crorepathis. That's Bicchagadu for you.

That's the track record of the music composer-turned-actor Vijay Antony's film. The film which had a remarkable 100 day in Tamil has emerged as a genuine super hit in Telugu as well. Guess what, even Brahmotsavam (anyways a flop) couldn't pip it in May.

The figures say it all. This sleeper hit has gone on to mop up a gross of Rs. 13 crore. The film's Telugu release rights were bought for Rs. 30 lakhs.

"I owe this success to my Director Sasi sir and my distributor Lakshman. His courage on releasing this film against a massive film, pinning hopes on the content has been the biggest plus factor. I`m indeed excited to be termed as a hero who can command commercial respect in two languages at the same time. I was told that it is a rare occasion for a Tamil hero to be accepted in this region of the country. With a proper script, execution and plan on the release I`m confident that all my future films will have a great visibility here in the Telugu film industry. This effort will enhance my commercial reputation as a star in south," Vijay Antony said.
