Bhuvi Out for 2-3 Games, Mohammed Shami to Join the Side

Following Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s hamstring injury in the match between India and Pakistan, Mohammed Shami will be stepping into the team as his replacement in the next few matches. In the post-match presentation yesterday, Virat Kohli said: “Slight niggle for Bhuvi, he slipped on one of the footmarks. He's out for two, maybe three games, but he should come back for us at some stage during this tournament. He is very important for us.” He added: “But we have Shami with us and it shouldn't be much of a worry for us. Even Bhuvi doesn't think his injury is very serious.”

Shami who is ‘raring to go’ will probably be seen donning the blue jersey in the next match against Afghanistan. The Indian captain was also all praises for Kuldeep Yadav who impressed yesterday with 2 wickets and an economy of 3.56 in 9 overs. He said: “Kuldeep Yadav was brilliant. Babar and Fakhar were trying to play him out, but I wanted him to have a longer spell. The ball to dismiss Babar was an outstanding delivery. I think today was the best he bowled at this World Cup.”

Kohli also spoke about the hype around the match saying: I think they outplayed us in the Champions Trophy final, in 2017, but if you focus on this game as too emotional, things can go wrong. We never approach them from that perspective. We are professional about it and the result is what matters.
