Bhumika Chawla ruled the Telugu and Tamil film industries in the 2000s starring alongside top heroes including Vijay ('Badri') and Suriya ('Sillunu Oru Kadhal). In 2007 she married her yoga teacher Bharath Thakur after dating him for four years and the couple have a son born in 2014.

Over the years there have been rumours on several occasions that all is not well between Bhumika and Bharath and that she lodged a police complaint against him and also applied for divorce. The reason that the reports said was that Bharat caused huge financial losses to his wife by producing a flop film as well as other bad business ventures.

On October 21st the occasion of her wedding anniversary, Bhumika silenced the rumour mongers by posting a loving message to her husband writing "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step... LOVE... and it’s love, learning, understanding, a journey of laughter and moments... discovering more about each other And ourselves... Thank you for Everything... may God bless us and our journey together... Proud of you and your hard work and your dedication to whatever you do in life. Happy Anniversary.”

Bhumika will soon be seen in the Tamil film 'Kannai Nambathey' directed by Mu Maran and starring Udhayanidhi Stalin and Aatmika in the lead. Her latest photoshoot has her stunning looks in every frame that she gives the younger girls a run for their money.
