Bhogapuram Airport bid goes to GMR group

The Bhogapuram Airport bid was on Monday bagged by the famous GMR group. The international airport will be constructed in near Vizianagaram. GMR won the bid against GVK group and a consortium.
The bids were first welcomed four years ago by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. Originally, there were seven bidders. In the end, only three of them submitted their bids.
The government decided the winner on the basis of how much fee the bidder is willing to pay per passenger to the government.
The airport aims to handle more than 6 million passengers per annum. The project's budget is more than Rs. 2,500 Cr.
