The title track of 'Bheemla Nayak' hasn't gone down well with M Ramesh, the DCP of East Zone, Hyderabad. The cop took to Twitter and expressed his dissatisfaction with the portrayal of a police officer, who is bound by the law, as a violent man. In the song, whose lyrics are by Ramajogayya Sastry, we see Pawan Kalyan's character being portrayed as a Gabbar Singh-kinda cop. This is said to be at odds with how the character was portrayed in the Malayalam original.

Here is what the Hyderabad cop said in his critique. "Thankfully, Telangana cops are people-friendly police. We don’t break the bones of those whom we are paid to protect! Surprisingly, the lyricist couldn’t find enough words in Telugu to describe the valour of a cop. No mention of service in the song, (sic)."

On his part, Sastry defended the characterization and the lyrics without directly quote-tweeting the cop. He said that it's legitimate to go the whole hog when you are writing for a superstar like Pawan Kalyan.

The song, composed by Thaman, is rendered by Sri Krishna, Prithvi Chandhra, Ram Miriyala. In less than 24 hours, it clocked more than 9 million views.
