Bharat Ratna for 'Telugu Tejam' will make us proud: Chiranjeevi

Megastar Chiranjeevi on Friday, marking the 99th birth anniversary of the legendary NT Rama Rao, opined that the country's highest civilian honour must be posthumously conferred on NTR. In his social media post, the 'Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy' actor described the late thespian as a 'Telugu Tejam' and a leader who made the Telugus proud.
Chiru gave the example of the Centre posthumously conferring the Bharat Ratna on Bhupen Hazarika, the legendary playback singer and lyricist from Assam. "If he is given the Bharat Ratna, it will make all the Telugus proud. It will be an honour for the Telugus," the senior actor opined.

The 'Acharya' actor wrote that NTR's 100th birth anniversary is nearing and that it will be befitting if he is given the Bharat Ratna to mark the occasion.
Bharat Ratna for NTR has been a request placed by the Telugu Desam Party, a party founded by the thespian-turned-politician. The Modi government was expected to give it to him when the TDP was an NDA ally till a couple of years ago.
On the work front, Chiru awaits the release of 'Acharya', which is directed by Koratala Siva. Starring also Ram Charan, its heroines are Kajal Aggarwal and Pooja Hegde.
