Full of DSP and Bhai feel

Devi Sri Prasad is back scoring a peppy and youthful album for Nagarjuna.  How does he fare?

Well, Bhai is not an extraordinary album, but it does entertain.  Full of DSP's trademark tunes, it is rich with the right vocals.

BHAI

Artist: Suchith Suresan
Lyricist: Ramajogayya Sastry

To his otherwise peppy and lavish tunes, DSP adds an opulent instrumentation that makes this song a good one.  Suchith Suresan's booming vocals definitely add zing.  Ramajogayya Sastry writes neat lyrics that also help to characterize Bhai's attitude.

Nemmadiga

Artists: Venu Srirangam, Swetha Mohan
Lyricist: Anantha Sriram

What is unique about this song is the choice of singers by DSP.  Swetha Mohan, with her unique vocals, gives it a naughty touch; she adds that item song-style feel to it.  Venu lends it that breezy romantic feel.  Anantha Sriram is at his usual best.  All in all, this is a cool romantic duet.

O Pilla Pilla

Artists: David Simon, Rita
Lyricist: Ramajogayya Sastry

A pulsating song, the song is high with David's booming voice.  He reminds one of Baba Sehgal.  Rita does a fine job.  Sastry's lyrics are found wanting and it is difficult to imagine when our lyricists will stop using English words.  DSP doles out his trademark music.

Aibaaboi Neechoopu

Artists: Tippu, Geetha Madhuri
Lyricist: Bhaskara Bhatla

It is a below par song that gives a sense of deja vu.  A song complete with Bhaskara Bhatla's garden variety lyrics, it is good only because of the instrumentation and not the tune.  Tippu and Geetha Madhuri deliver a dekko, as is expected of them.

Most Wanted

Artists: Narendra, Mamata Mohandas
Lyricist: Ramajogayya Sastry

Fans of DSP's hit item numbers will be disappointed with this rather bland item song.  Except for the singers, Narendra and Mamata Mohandas, the song has nothing interesting in store.  Sastry's lyrics pass muster.
