'Bewakoofiyaan' may benefit from 'Holi'

As was stated in this column last week, the promotion of 'Bewakoofiyaan' had been on a very moderate level. That was expected to show on the film's opening as well and that indeed turned out to be the case. Still, it was expected that at least 30%-40% opening was on the cards. That didn't turn out to be the case though as the average opening was lower than this. As a result, the opening day was poor with just over 2 crore coming in.
The weekend didn't see an escalated rise either, as was the case with last week's 'Queen' which showed massive jumps. Instead, Saturday and Sunday were on lower side too, as a result of which the weekend closed around the 8 crore mark. The only advantage it has is the fact that Monday is a holiday which means the fall from Friday won't be huge. If at all there is a fall of over 20%-30% on Monday then it would be an uphill task for the film to hang on well during the weekdays.
However the fact that still cannot be denied is that this is the lowest opener ever for a Yash Raj production since 'Band Baaja Baaraat' (if one ignores the likes of 'Mujhse Fraaandship Karogi' and 'Luv Ka The End' which were Y-Films' offering). However, the word of mouth for the Ranvir Singh-Anushka Sharma starrer was very wrong that had enabled it to cross the 20 crore mark after Friday opening of just 1 crore.
