While it is not uncommon to see actresses being stereotyped in to stale and supporting characters after a short stint, Nayanthara has managed to reign the industry as a leading lady for over twelve amazing and impressive years. Today as the actress celebrates her birthday, Indiaglitz ponders over some of the versatile characters that the actress has emoted.
Selvi -'Ayya':
Nayanthara marked her debut into the Tamil film industry with 'Ayya'. The film saw Nayanthara giving nothing less than admirable with her easy emoting of anger, love, hate, sorrow etc hinting at an all round capable actress.
Durga- 'Chandramukhi':
Nayanthara's very second film was opposite Superstar Rajinikanth in ÂChandramukhi where she essays the role of a stuttering music teacher. Even though she was cast only as a supporting character alongside Jyothika, Nayanthara justified her role with an impressive performance making her role a memorable one in the film.
Sasha- 'Billa':
When Nayanthara was on the brink on being stereotyped into village characters with limited scope, the actress came back with a bang in Thala Ajith's 'Billa' where she portrayed glam, action stunts with suave and comfort. The actress has since then went onto take challenging and unique roles making her a versatile performer.
Keerthi- 'Yaaradi Nee Mohini' :
In this film Nayanthara is seen to have exceptionally emoted two sides of a single character. The first half where she emotes a software worker and the second half where she emotes the character of a conservative girl equally impressed the fans and the audiences. NayantharaÂs character was pivotal and crucial where her character was in deep waters struck between the desire to marry her love and at the same time not wanting to disappoint her family and Nayanthara has rightfully aced the character.
Chandhrika- 'Boss Engira Bhaskaran':
'Boss Engira Bhaskaran' was a full fledged comedy film in which Nayanthara played the perfect love interest to the filmÂs male lead Arya. The actress once again did not fail to impress the fans and audiences with her cute expressions flavoured with some serious acting. This film was also talked about owing to the perfect on screen chemistry between Nayan and Arya.
Regina- 'Raja Rani':
Unlike other films, Nayanthara's growth as an actor displayed itself obviously in this much loved film. Her parts with Jai and thereafter with Arya did not fail to move the audiences beyond tears in some exceptionally performed scenes. The film is also touted to be one of the actressÂs best films till date.
Anaamika- 'Ne Enge En Anbe':
This film has Nayanthara displaying her prowess as a skilled actor where she takes on a terrorist who also happens to her husband. Her role in the film was received with positive appreciation from fans and critics alike.
Mahima- 'Thani Oruvan'
Even though Nayanthara has only a small portion to play in the film, her performance was nevertheless much appreciated. Nayanthara was much appreciated for emoting the strength of her character through body language and minimal dialogues. The film became a runaway hit in the box office as well.
Maya- 'Maya':
Nayanthara's role as a 'Maya' was one of the most titular performances in her filmography. In the film, Nayanthara essays the role of a lady who accepts to see a horror movie alone in a theatre in a bid to save herself from lack of money. The movie is a pure on woman show reiterating NayantharaÂs strength as an actress.
Kadambari - 'Naanum Rowdy Dhaan':
This character not only showcased Nayanthara to be an exceptional performer, but also became highly acclaimed by fans and critics alike. Nayanthara essayed the role of a deaf, mute girl opposite Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi making the film a commercial high grosser as well.
