An Uber driver assaulted a passenger and dislocated his nose after a brief argument with him over the payment and the cancellation of the trip.
The incident happened in Bengaluru, where the passenger booked the cab to be dropped at the Kempegowda International Airport. The victim reportedly stated that the driver asked him for more cash than what was originally charged by the Uber app. Following an altercation regarding the fare and cancellation, the driver allegedly punched the passenger, leaving his nose bleeding. "The argument began when the driver asked the victim to cancel the trip, if he would not comply with his demands, which the customer denied. As the customer said he would be fined for doing so, the driver went behind the vehicle and started throwing the luggage, which was loaded on the ground, according to the statement recorded," a police official reportedly told a news agency.
The police have registered a case and booked the accused under sections 323 (assault), 341 (wrongful restraint), and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) of the Indian Penal Code.
