Ad Bureau Advertising had lodged a complaint in a local police station in Bengaluru against Latha Rajinikanth alleging that she had procured an amount of Rs. 10 crores from them promising them the rights of Rajinikanth`s Kochadaiyaan` and cheating them. No FIR was filed and they approached the magistrate`s court which directed the police to file the FIR.

In the month of June Latha Rajinikanth appealed in the same court, to cancel the FIR which the court refused and she appealed in the high court and the case came up for hearing and the Latha`s council argued that Kochadiyaan` was produced and directed by Soundarya R Ashwin and Rajinikanth and Latha Rajinikanth had nothing to do with it and the case is false and an attempt by Ad Bureau Advertising to tarnish the image of the Rajinikanth family. Judge Rathnakala accepted the argument and stayed proceedings for six weeks, which comes as an interim relief for Latha.
