Two police officers of the Kumaraswamy Layout Police Station in Bengaluru were captured physically assaulting and manhandling a woman inside the station.
The incident allegedly happened on January 19 when the woman, Saraswati, had gone to the police station in order to settle a family dispute that involved her daughter. Following an altercation, two police officers were seen assaulting the woman, one of whom (an assistant sub-inspector) was caught striking the woman across her face and forcibly pushing her out of the station. The police officers have been severely condemned for their actions by people after the video went viral across social media.
The assistant sub-inspector has reportedly been suspended with immediate effect, while the status of the other police officer is yet to be known. Karnataka’s BJP shared the video on their Twitter page, criticizing the CM and former CM of Karnataka, HD Kumaraswamy and Siddaramaiah, respectively.
