In a parking lot in Bangalore’s Yelahanka Air Force Station, a massive fire break out led to the destruction of over 300 cars.
Thick dark smoke engulfed the air base in North Bengaluru that was hosting the Aero India show. The fire, which is suspected to have been started by a lit cigarette on the dry grass of the open field and spread further due to strong winds, broke out at 12.17 pm, according to reports. A senior police official involved in the investigation tweeted, “Fire in the open field parking lot of aero show. Nearly 20 cars burnt. Fire fighting operations by Chief Fire Officer and 10 water tenders staff underway.” The officer added that the fire spread was being controlled by creating gaps by removing the adjacent cars.
No injuries or harm to people have been reported. The Aero show is a five-day event that started on Wednesday and will be ending tomorrow.
