The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the Indian squad for the World Test Championship (WTC) final against New Zealand, set to begin at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton from Friday.
The 15-member squad announced by the BCCI includes six batsmen, five pace bowlers and two spinners along with two wicketkeeper-batsmen. Five players from the original 20-member squad that toured England have missed out on the upcoming game. The players include Axar Patel, KL Rahul, Shardul Thakur, Mayank Agarwal, Washington Sundar. Based on the selection, it is likely that Shubman Gill will open the match with Rohit Sharma due to Mayank Agarwal being left out.
The inclusion of Ravindra Jadeja in the squad means there is no option but to leave out Axar Patel, who emerged a star in the England tour after picking up 27 wickets in 3 tests. Virat Kohli will lead the team while Ajinkya Rahane will be the vice captain.
