The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has listed ten documents which could be displayed as identity proof by air-passengers during security-checks at Airports across the country.
The following is the list of ten documents as decided by the BCAS:
• Passport
• Voter’s ID
• Aadhaar Card or m-Aadhaar
• PAN Card
• Driving License
• Service ID
• Student ID card
• Passbook account (with photo) in a public sector Bank
• Pension card of pension document (with photo)
• Disability ID card or handicapped medical certificate
BCAS’s Rajesh Chandra also revealed that the agency has also set in motion a process by which air-passengers would still be able to establish their identities even if they lose any of the above-said IDs. “In case of loss of the listed documents for whatever reason, an identity certificate by a Gr. ‘A’ Central/State Govt. gazette officer (on his/her letterhead) with the passenger’s photo would be accepted as identity proof,” he said.
Minors and infants accompanied by elders need not display a separate ID or proof for domestic air-travel, he further pointed out.
