'Barfi' in the Oscars list

The team of recently released ‘Barfi’ is jubilant! The Anurag Basu’s directorial reportedly has been nominated as Indian's entry to the Oscars next year in the foreign film category.

Released on 14th Sept 2012, ‘Barfi’ stars Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D’Cruz in lead.

The film, that revolves around a deaf and mute Murphy, an autistic girl Jhilmil and Bengali girl Shruti, was well-received by audience and critics alike.

‘Barfi’ is said to have been chosen from 20 Indian films, which also included ‘Kahaani’, ‘The Dirty Picture’, ‘Gangs Of Wasseypur’ I and II, ‘Gattu’ and ‘Jalpari’. The list also included few Marathi, one Tamil and Telugu movies as well.

Quoted L Suresh, of South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce in an interview, "There was a long deliberation over the choice, but most members voted for Barfi!"
