Expectations

Love stories look simple but yet are highly complicated. The makers have to add some fresh ingredients in it along with a striking chemistry between the lead pair. Most of these romantic love stories work mainly due to their lead pair`s chemistry on screen and the fantastic music attached to it.

'Bareilly Ki Barfi' is a love triangle based film which has been presented in a breezy manner. The trailer looks promising and songs are faring well all across, raising the expectation level especially among the youngsters and family audience.

Story

'Bareilly Ki Barfi' is a story of a daringly different girl Bitti Mishra (Kriti Sanon) living with her parents (Pankaj Tripathi and Seema Pawa). After a couple of arrange marriage proposal going wrong, Bitti decides to elope away from her house. On her way she buys a novel, whose main protagonist has the same traits like her. Bitti decides to find the author Pritam Vidrohi (Rajkummar Rao), with the help of the book publisher Chirag Dubey (Ayushmann Khurrana). Little does Bitti know, that Chirag is the real writer of this novel. At the same time, Chirag starts liking Bitti and thus plans out a fake meet between Bitti and Pritam Vidrohi. This starts the series of events related to the love triangle between Bitt, Pritam and Chirag.

The 'Glitz' Factor

The settings of Bareilly and its residents makes the movie slightly different. The movie picks up its main momentum with the arrival of Rajkummar Rao's track. The second half is interesting, enjoyable and entertaining in comparison to its first half.

Though, Javed Akhtar's narrative introduction in the first half is highly enjoyable, followed by almost every scene involving Rajkummar Rao in the movie. The actors, especially Rajummar and Ayushmann try their level best to lift the film. The cinematography is good and works in favour of the film.

The music is average and songs such as 'Twist Kamariya' and 'Sweety Tera Drama' will be remembered only for a short time. 'Nazm Nazm' is a soulful song.

Director Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari succeeds in delivering a fantastic performance by Rajkummar Rao and by Ayushmann in some scenes. The humour quotient along with entertainment factor is quite high in the second half of the film, which helps you to relish the film.

Ayushmann Khurrana is fine in his part.. His comic timing is pretty average, but shines out in some emotional scenes. Kriti Sanon looks good. Rajkummar Rao is outstandingly brilliant in this movie. Pankaj Tripathi and Seema Pawa are fantastic in their small roles.

The 'Non-Glitz' Factor

The basic story idea is quite similar to films like 'Saajan' and few such films. The plot of fake identity based love triangle has been presented several times in every decade and era. It's just that the predictable storyline and traditional narrative pattern dilutes the intensity of the film. The curse of weak screenplay keeps harming their efforts. There is nothing new or unseen in this film.

The climax is typically predictable and works only due to Ayushmann`s lovely letter recitation.The background music is average. It's just that the soul and emotionally connecting factor is nowhere to be seen in this film.

The movie has everything but nothing special to cherish and to be remembered for a long time.

Ayushmann Khurrana's character will remind you of his recently released film 'Meri Pyari Bindu'. Kriti lacks the charisma required for such lively character.

Final 'Glitz'

'Bareilly Ki Barfi' is low calorie sweet which one can consume occasionally.
