The Union government on Saturday said that hair salons and barber shops can't be opened for now. "They render services. Our Saturday order is applicable only to shops that deal in the sale of items. Only neighbourhood shops can be opened. There is no order to open barber shops and hair salons. There is no order to open liquor shops too," Joint Secretary of Home Affairs Punya Salila Srivastava today said.
She added that there is no order to open restaurants.
What the detailed order said:
"In rural areas, all shops (except those in shopping malls) are allowed to open. In urban areas, all standalone shops, neighbourhood shops and shops in residential complexes are allowed to open. However, shops in markets, market complexes and shopping malls are not allowed to open till May 3," the order says.
These shops will not be permitted to open in areas (both rural and urban) which are declared as containment zones by respective States/UTs.
