Banwarilal Purohit to take oath as TN Governor today

Former Assam Governor Banwarilal Purohit is to be sworn-in as the new Governor of Tamil Nadu today.
President Ram Nath Kovind had on 30th September (last Saturday) appointed the then Assam Governor Purohit to take over his new gubernatorial assignment in Tamil Nadu, replacing Vidyasagar Rao, the incumbent Governor of Maharashtra who was holding the post of Governor Tamil Nadu as an ‘additional charge’.
Purohit arrived in Chennai yesterday afternoon and was received warmly at the Airport by chief-minister Edapadi K. Palaniswamy, deputy chief-minister O. Panneerselvam, his Ministerial colleagues and AIADMK cadres. The police department also accorded a warm separate welcome to Purohit.
Raj Bhawan in Guindy, which is all set to become the official residence of Purohit, has been repainted where the swearing-in ceremony would take place at 09:30 a.m. Chief Justice of High Court of Madras Indira Banerjee would administer the oath of office and secrecy to Purohit.
