Actress Banupriya is a prominent personality in South Indian cinema having acted as the leading lady in numerous films and currently doing serials and character roles.  A police case has been filed against her after one Prabhavathi has lodged a complaint that she is from an economically backward class and her 14 year old daughter Sandhiya has been under the employment of Banupriya as a domestic help.

Prabhavathi has alleged that Banupriya had promised rupees ten thousand a month as salary for Sandhiya but had not paid for the past 18 months.  It is said that Sandhiya had called from an unknown person's mobile and had stated that Banupriya's elder brother Gopalakrishnan is sexually molesting her and also physically abusing her by beating her up.  On 18.1.2019 the mother is said to have gone the actress's house but they had allegedly told her that they would file a false theft case against the minor girl and send her to jail.
Prabhavathy has lodged her complaint at Samalrakottai police station in Andhra and the police have filed the case and are coming to Chennai to hold inquiries with Banupriya and her brother in this regard.
