'Bangarraju', which will hit the screens on January 14, has a host of strengths in its kitty. Akkineni Nagarjuna's characterization is in the known territory, it being an extension of his character from 'Soggade Chinni Nayana'. 'Soggadu malli vacchadu' is the very caption of the movie.
Naga Chaitanya's Chinna Bangarraju is a consummate playboy, romancing the likes of Simrat Kaur, Faria Abdullah and Daksha Nagarkar. How the two characters come together and why is the crux of the story. If the film has old-school elements like the rural backdrop and supernatural fantasy elements, it's because director Kalyan Krishna Kurasala and screenplay-writer Sathyanand wanted it. Ramya Krishna is seen alongside Nag in a majority of scenes. It will be fun to watch the duo.
Produced by Zee Studios in association with Annapurna Studios, the film has Krithi Shetty in her first funnily over-confident role. Rao Ramesh and Brahmaji, much like Vennela Kishore and Praveen, have light roles. With music by Anup Rubens, the film has art direction by Brahma Kadali. The cinematography is by J Yuvaraj.
It has been Nagarjuna's dream to release the movie only for Sankranthi. That's why its release date was firmed up despite Covid-19.
