'Bangalore Naatkal': Will 'Bommarillu' Bhaskar tick?

Bommarillu Bhaskar began with a bang in 2008, but has since been down, if not out. His films have always received critical, if equivocal, acclaim, but neither Parugu, Orange, nor Ongole Gittha could make the cut. Thus, in a career spanning more than 7 years, he has delivered just one BO blockbuster, while one more had to do with so-so performance. The other two were surprise BO duds.
Despite all this, Bhaskar has been able to hold. The reason is that the choice of subjects makes him someone special. Whatever may be the subject, he pulls off a worthy show whatever be the setting - whether it is campus-cum-family rom-com (Bommarillu), family rom-com set in a village (Parugu), an urbane rom-com set in a rich landscape (Orange), or an action drama set in a village (Ongole Gittha). And yes, his characterizations are near-perfect.
Bangalore Naatkal is his forthcoming film. This Tamil remake of the Malayalam hit Bangalore Days seems to be a game-chamger for him. Arya, Rana Daggubati, Bobby Simha, Sri Divya, Samantha, Prakash Raj, Parvathy, and Raai Laxmi are the key cast. Produced by PVP and music-directed by Gopi Sunder, KV Guhan is the cinematographer. A comedy drama that invites the audience to get ready for an "emotional ride", it is releasing on Feb 5.
