It is no rocket science for anyone to predict that between 'Bang Bang' and 'Haider', former would be leading the charge when it comes to moolah collected at the box office. Not just is the film arriving on more than triple the screen count of 'Haider', it is also a far more commercial film, something that would go on its favor. Also, Hrithik Roshan enjoys the super-star status while Shahid Kapoor did get a good success in the form of 'R... Rajkumar' but that had an entirely different space and setting when compared to 'Haider'.
One area where this Vishal Bhardwaj film could garner some brownie points is the critical acclaim. It won't be surprising if the film is graced with some glowing reviews from all quarters, something that Vishal's last two releases 'Matru Ki Bijli Ka Mandola' and '7 Khoon Maaf' couldn't really boast of. As for Sidharth Anand, he would be far more content with massive footfalls at the box office than the number of stars that his film gets, considering the fact that his is an expensive affair that warrants big occupancies for days at succession.
That is expected to be possible for the Hrithik Roshan-Katrina Kaif starrer, considering the fact that it is a five day weekend with quite a few national holidays peppered in its way. With the film releasing on Thursday, 2nd October, one of the hugest first day of 2014 is expected for 'Bang Bang'. Though it would be interesting to see if 'Singham Returns' opening day of 32 crore would be crossed, it is almost confirmed that 26 crore Day One collections of 'Kick' would be comfortably surpassed. What is also a given is that in its first five days itself, 'Bang Bang' would comfortably enter the 100 crore club.
On the other hand 'Haider' can well be expected to be content if it fetches half of this in its first five days. In fact that would not just make the film as Vishal Bhardwaj's highest grosser till date, it would also give the film a platform from where it could turn into Shahid Kapoor's biggest solo starrer, hence surpassing 'R... Rajkumar' which collected around 65 crore. However before that it would have to open at least reasonably well with around 50% occupancies. Now with 'Bang Bang' as competition, that would warrant a close watch indeed.
