'Banaras' marks the Sandalwood debut of actor Zaid Khan. Directed by Jayathirtha, the film has been shot in Varanasi and Bengaluru, among other locations.
The news is that the film's first song, titled 'Maayaganga', was released today. A melody that soothes the listeners, the song's Varanasi backdrop is tasteful. Krishna Kanth of 'Radhe Shyam' fame has penned the lyrics. Sung by Armaan Malik, it is picturized on Zaid and the female lead, played by Sonal Monterio.
B Ajaneesh Loknath's composition is lilting. The picturization is apt. The dance choreography is effective.
Zaid, a trained actor, is happy about the pan-India release of 'Benaras'. It will soon be released in Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Hindi, and Malayalam.
Sujay Shastry, Devaraj, Achyuth Kumar, Sapna Raj and Barkath Ali have played important roles. Advaitha Gurumurthy has cranked the camera. A Vujay and 'Different' Danny have choreographed the action scenes. The film has dance choreography by the Jayathirtha-A Harsha duo.
