Balu ABCDEFG
Pawan Kalyan is a stickler for details and his own conventions. He likes to make films at his won pace and, more importantly, at his own will. Normally, he takes time between his films. Between Kushi and Johnny, there was almost an eternity. Between Johnny and Gudumba Shankar, there was an era.
But between Gudumba Shankar and Bala, there is none, and there is a tale in it ---- Pawan Kalyan is desperate for success. The fact that his two flicks had run into rough weather has sent alarm bells ringing in his camp. He cannot afford another mis-hit. The situation had come to such a pass that even big brother Chiranjeevi had made discreet inquiries whether he would be of any help. Pawan, being his own man, however, refused the offer. But he also knows that Bala---ABCDEFG is his one last chance. That is why he is giving his extra to the film. But Pawan may also be in luck- the movie is being directed by Karunakaran. He is the man who helped Pawan to get launched into the big league through Toli Prema. The duo shares a wonderful working relationship.
The movie (as the tag ABCDEFG --- A Boy Can Do Everything For Girl) is a light-hearted romantic romp with dollops of fun and fanfare. The heroines are Shriya and Neha Oberoi. There is a distinct North Indian feel to the movie --- the cast is decidedly Bollywood with the likes of Gulshan Grover, Saurabh Shukla and Milind Gunaji playing important roles. Further, film has been shot mostly around the love city of Agra (a special set was e rected near Taj Mahal). Another talking point of the movie has been the 'Old City' set got up at a cost of nearly a crore of rupees in the Ramoji Rao Film City.
Mani Sharma's music is a combination of loud and lilt. Pawan, as his wont, is involved in every aspect of the film. But as Johnny and Gudumba Shankar showed us, may not be enough. But Pawan surely wants to read the alphabet of success with Bala ---ABCEDEFGH --- A Boy Can Do Everything For Giving (a) Hit.
The film is slated for release next January.
