A day to go, for Dhanush to claim fame once more up north, and there were many a light moments and a lot of insight when Dhanush got candid on 'Shamitabh'. First things first - why 'Shamitabh'? Dhanush explained that after 'Raanjhnaa', he had enough to scripts to read up on, for the months that followed. "After 33 scripts and a patient wait for eight-and-half months, Balki called me over to narrate 'Shamitabh'. Most movies these days are stories already told, but they make an impact owing to the way it is narrated anew. But 'Shamitabh' was a whole new story! That impressed me immediately. Balki is an elegant filmmaker, who knows what he wants done. A thorough professional with the technicalities and knowledge, he is a weird man, given his truly different winning ideas!"
Is 'Shamitabh' derived out of Dhanush's and Amitabh's names, given that these two are the lead stars? Probably not, says Dhanush, who also suggests that Balki already had it planned, before casting. Speaking further, he also explained on the scene that gathered exclamation that Dhanush dragged Amitabh by the latter's collar. The young actor clarified "No, that was the character I played that dragged the character played by Amitabh, by his collar. If I were to involve emotions of my presence with the unparalleled star, I would have never gotten to the end of that scene. This is why, I walked inert to the scene. But I owe my thanks to Amitabh Bachchan, who ensured that we all felt at home, with the levels to which he moved freely with us that we were all comfortable working on this film."
