Tourists and unmarried couples will now have to think twice before vacationing in Indonesia's Bali as their new proposed law criminalizing sex outside marriage.

The new laws would make not just consensual sex outside marriage illegal, but would also get unmarried couple living together in trouble. Under the proposed law, if found guilty, the individuals will have to serve six months in prison or pay 10 million rupiahs (INR 50,354) as a fine. The laws will also outlaw all LGBT liaisons and a criminal code revision in the Islamic country bans insulting the religion, the state of Indonesia, and the country's president. "Indonesia’s draft criminal code is disastrous not only for women and religious and gender minorities but for all Indonesians. Lawmakers should remove all the abusive articles before passing the law," a Human Rights researcher reportedly said.

Following the objection of certain amendments by locals, President Jokowi Widodo has called for the House of Representatives to postpone passing the bill amid, stating that the public's concerns should also be considered.
