We all know what amount of love and respect director Bala shares with his mentor Balu Mahendra. The director considers his mentor equal to his father and Mrs. Akila Balu Mahendra as his mother. He has such high regards for the couple that he named his daughter Akila as a mark of respect for his mentor's family. When Bala usually wraps up a film he takes time off to showcase the first copy of his film to Mr. and Mrs. Balu Mahendra.

'Vaadu Veedu ' unlike the usual Bala films gives more way to comedy. Only the last few scenes of the film are serious, reveal sources close to the director. 'Vaadu Veedu' sees Arya and Vishal in lead roles, and this is Arya's second successive film with director Bala.

When the first copy of 'Avan Ivan' , the Tamil version of 'Vaadu Veedu' was ready, Bala showcased the film to Mrs. Akila, who was in splits throughout the film but for the last couple of scenes which saw tears streaming down her eyes. Director Balu Mahendra reportedly wants to enjoy the film in a theatre with the audience! Looks like the ace director (Balu Mahendra) wants to revel in the response that the public elicits for Bala's film. Seeing the response of Mrs. Akila, Bala is believed to have commented positively on his film's victory.

Balu Mahendra is a legendry director who made great films like 'Nireekshana' 'Sadma' and 'Sathi Leelavati'.Director Bala was his assistant for long time.
