Director Bala whose last release was Naachiyaar starring Jyothika and GV Prakash released before three years, had next directed the movie Varmaa, which was the official Tamil remake of Telugu superhit Arjun Reddy. The movie was produced by E4 Entertainment.

Starring Chiyaan Vikram's son Dhruv, Megha Chaudhary, Eswari Rao and Raiza Wilson, the movie which was supposed to be Dhruv's debut was completed and was ready to release, but in an unexpected way, the movie was scrapped and another version of the movie named Adithya Varma was made and was released.

Months after the release of Adithya Varmaa and with demands from fans of Bala to watch his version of the movie, recently the Singapore censor certificate of Varmaa has been making the rounds on the internet, where it has been revealed that the movie has a runtime of just 1 hour and 54 minutes and had been certified NC16 by the censors. It has to be seen if Varmaa will be releasing in theaters soon.
