The critical success of Irudhi Suttru` has also ensured its commercial success as more and more theaters are being added for the film. Director Bala who is known to speak his mind has openly stated that he learnt atleast five to six things about directing from Sudha.

Bala has said that the way the film has been made has brought him to tears in many scenes. He lauds Maddy`s acting saying that he stood up and applauded the actor during the interval. Bala also let out that Rithika`s actions in the film are exactly that of Sudha`s in real life and the director has transferred her character into that to Rithika`s. Bala reserved special praise for Santhosh Narayanan`s music saying that his quality is that of a music director who is done 300 or more films. The National Award winning director concluded by saying that Sudha has made her mentor Maniratnam proud.

It may be noted that Sudha Kongara has also assisted Bala in one of his films and she must be on cloud nine to hear the praises of such an accomplished filmmaker.
