Two Bajrang Dal activists Sunday sustained burn injuries while setting fire to an effigy of film star Salman Khan over his alleged links with the underworld.

Bajrang Dal workers reportedly reached the Patnipura square in Indore district with the actor's effigy. The effigy was slapped with shoes and slippers before being doused with petrol and set on fire.

The injured have been admitted to a district hospital and are stated to be in a serious condition.

The screening of Salman Khan's latest movie "Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya", which was released Friday, is showing in theatres across Madhya Pradesh.

Police have been deployed at the theatres so that screening of the film is not disrupted.

Office bearers of the Madhya Pradesh Cinema Association met Chief Minister Babulal Gaur and sought police protection for cinema halls.
