As we had reported earlier Ilayathalapathy Vijay;s 'Bairavaa' and G.V.Prakash Kumar's 'Bruce Lee' are confirmed for Pongal 2017 release.Versatile actor Suriya's most anticipated mass entertainer flick 'S3' is also expected to release for the grand Tamil festival season but official word on the same is yet to arrive.
Now we learn that three more films have joined in the Pongal race. Jai starrer 'Enakku Vaaitha Adimiagal', Arun Vijay's debut production venture 'Kuttram 23' and 'Madras' and 'Kabali' fame Kalaiyarasan's 'Adhey Kangal' are also announced as a Pongal 2017 release. The new official posters of these three films have been released with the 'Pongal Release' announcement.
'Kuttram 23' is a medical crime thriller directed by Arivazhagan of 'Eeram' fame. The film star's Arun Vijay and Mahima Nambiar in lead roles. Vishal Chandrasekar has rendered the musical score for this film produced by Arun Vijay's home banner In Cinemas Entertainments and Redhan The Cinema People.
'Enakku Vaaitha Adimiagal' directed by debutant Mahendran Rajamani stars Jai and Pranitha Subash in lead roles. Kaali Venkat and Karunakaran are part of the supporting cast in the film produced by Shaun Sudharshan who made his debut with Vijay Sethupathi starrer super hit flick 'Sethupathi'.
'Adhey Kangal' starrin Kalaiyarasan, Janani Iyer and Shivada in lead roles has been produced by C.V.Kumar under his Thirukumaran Entertainments banner. The film touted to be a thriller has been directed by debutant Rohin Venkatesan, Ghibran has rendered the musical score for this film.
This means Pongal 2017 will have at least five releases this year. If 'S3' joins it will be six which will be phenomenally huge. It must be noted that Pongal 2016 had four Tamil film releases 'Rajini Murugan', 'Tharai Thappattai', 'Kathakali' and 'Gethu'; all of them are biggies in one way or other. We will have to see whether Tamil box office will accommodate six films for the upcoming festival season.
