Malayalam cinema is going through a bad phase for last few weeks because of the standoff between theatre owners and producers on revenue sharing. Latest development in the conflict between producers and Film Exhibitors association is that they have decided to go for an indefinite strike and would not screen film in the theatres starting from Thursday.

The discussions and mediation so far has failed and Film exhibitors Federation is now in the track of more severe steps and has decided to stop screening films.

Bairavaa release will be affected by this as it was scheduled to release on January 12. Meanwhile Dean Kuriakose stated that in the present context of not allowing the regional language films to release by theatre owners they will stop the release of Bairava also. Bairava is a much anticipated movie and Vijay for the first time pairs with Keerthi Suresh. As Vijay enjoys a wide fan base in Kerala, many in the industry expressed concern on how it would be taken by his fans here.
