Akshay Kumar starrer historical drama 'Prithviraj' was wrapped up quite a while ago and it has been awaiting an appropriate time for its theatrical release ever since. It was finally supposed to release on 21st of January 2022 but according to recent reports, that might not be the case. Apparently, Yash Raj Films have decided to hold the release in wake of recent surge in the Covid-19 cases across the country.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter and wrote, “‘PRITHVIRAJ’ NOT ON 21 JAN… YRF NOT DECIDED ON NEW RELEASE DATE YET… #Prithviraj #AkshayKumar #YRF.” As of now, makers have not announced a new release date.

'Prithviraj' is based on the life and exploits of the great warrior king Prithviraj Chauhan and it also marks the acting debut of Manushi Chhillar. Akshay Kumar is super excited for the audience to witness his work in this project. Talking about the subject he earlier said, "The more I read about him, the more I was awed by how he lived and breathed every single second of his glorious life for his country and his values."
