Music director Gurukiran is quite upbeat about his latest project. He is now composing the music for the period film Gandugolli Kumararama and says it is by far the most challenging project that he has come across till date. Ask him what's really hot on the music scene now and he says, people always want to listen to something that is new and catchy. I never learnt music till I got to college, it was only after that, that I picked up musical instruments and learnt to play them.

At the very beginning I was able to play around 12 different instruments. But what really got him into the limelight was his voice. Singing for his college and at a number of events outside got him noticed. He had a different sort of voice and that became his USP.

Says Gurukiran, I play only by ear. And luckily for me, what I think sounds good seems to sound good to a lot of people too. So here I am composing trendy and catchy tunes for the films in the Kannada film industry. At any given point, I am working on at least three films, so the going is now pretty good.
