Of late, the Bachchans have a lot to be grateful about. Is that why they went to the famed Siddhi Vinayak temple in Mumbai this week?

"It's been such a wonderful time for them...Amitabh Bachchan's career is going great, great and greater guns. As for Abhishek, his career is, in one word, rocking. Not only is he a major force to reckon with at the box-office, the goodwill he commands within the industry is awesome," a close family friend told IANS.

The Bachchans have visited several holy spots in recent times, including the Tirupati-Balaji and Vashno-Devi.

Immediately after a very private and special screening of Ram Gopal Varma's "Sarkar", the Bachchans - Amitabh, Jaya and Abhishek - paid a very special visit to the Siddhi Vinayak temple.

The barefoot pilgrimage - both father and son Bachchan were without footwear - was not an impromptu decision.

Even when Bachchan was shooting for Apoorva Lakhiya's "Ek Ajnabee" in Bangkok he had taken a decision on the issue: the Bachchan family would visit the Siddhi Vinayak temple after his return home.

So it was that the Bachchans took off for their promised pilgrimage. According to informed sources, it wasn't meant to be for any specific reason.

As a co-star of Abhishek's commented, "What could the Bachchans possibly ask for that they haven't already got?"
