There may be some grumbling from critics and fans about the abrupt ending or the lengthy and disjointed scenes and characterisations but the box office returns speak a different language as S.S. Rajamouli`s ambitious Baahubali` for which he has invested a huge amount of time and effort is paying rich dividends.

According to trade analyst Sridhar Pillai the first day domestic gross of Baahubali` is 50 Crores beating the record created by SRK` starrer Happy New Year``s 45 crores. The total weekend nett collections are Rupees 60 Crores from Andhra Pradesh, Rupees 22 Crores from the Hindi Belt, Rupees 21 Crores from Karnataka, Rs. 12 Crores from Tamilnadu and Rupees 2.2 Crores from Kerala which makes a total of Rupees 117.2 Crores Nett and the gross is Rupees 135 Crores. Worldwide collection of which the US contributes 90 percent is Rupees 28 Crores and so the total worldwide weekend collection is a phenomenal Rupees 163 Crores.

Karan Johar the Hindi distributor of the film has said that Baahubali` is the first Indian film whose Monday collections bettered the Fridaycollection and the Hindi version is expected to bring Rupees 40 Crores in the first week. In the US the film has collected 1.4 million USD from the thursday premier shows in 150 locations which figure is the Lifetime collection of a big telugu hero film. The film`s weekend collection is 3.5 million which is more than amount made by PK. The lifetime US collection is expected to be around 5 to 6 Million USD which will be second only to PK which made 10 million USD.

Looks like Baahubali` is going to become one the biggest grosser ever in Indian Cinema and congragulations are due to Rajamouli, Shobu Yarlagada, Prabhas, Rana Dagubatti, Ramya Krishnan, Tamanaah, Sathyaraj, Nasser and the rest of the cast and crew whose hard work is rewriting the pages of History.
