BAAHUBALI sweeps IIFA UTSAVAM Awards 2016; Surprisingly Prabhas and Rana Daggubati declined honors!

The much anticipated and highly publicized first edition of the IIFA Utsavam witnessed the who's who of the South film industry at the Gachibowli stadium in Hyderabad.
The two days festival witnessed on Sunday the announcement of Tamil and Malayalam film industries' best talent in the year 2015.
As expected this year's biggest commercial and critical blockbuster BAAHUBALI: THE BEGINNING swept the Tamil Film Awards by winning as many as half the awards in the 12 category awards nite including Best Picture.
S. S. Rajamouli deservedly won the Best director award for his superlative direction in BAAHUBALI: THE BEGINNING thus out beating his arch rival A.R. Murugadoss for his this year's other big hit KATHTHI.
Besides, the award won by BAAHUBALI: THE BEGINNING include Sathyaraj and Ramya Krishnan in the Best Supporting Role (Male), Supporting Role (Female) respectively. In addition BAAHUBALI also won awards for best Playback Singer Male and Female for Haricharan Seshadri and Geetha Madhuri.
However what has left millions of BAAHUBALI: THE BEGINNING fans is the exclusion of dynamic actor Prabhas, who despite his career best performance in BAAHUBALI has been ignored and instead Tamil actor Jayam Ravi awarded Best actor for his critically and commercially-acclaimed THANI ORUVAN.
Another major goof-up in the awards is the sidelining of actor Rana Daggubati in the Best negative role category. Rana Daggubati's negative role as the cruel and wicket ruler in BAAHUBALI: THE BEGINNING is one of the lifetime performances like the one delivered by Amjad Khan aka Gabbar Singh in Bollywood hit SHOLAY! But shockingly the jury discarded his performance and has instead awarded Arvind Swamy in THANI ORUVAN! Amazing decision!!!
One fails to understand the logic of the awards! The deserving return home empty handed and the undeserving basks in the glory!
