Are you wondering what 'Baahubali: Before The Beginning' (the prequel to 'Baahubali: The Beginning') on Netflix will be? Sure, it's very much based on a novel by Anand Neelakantan. Sure, we now know Mrunal Thakur will play the young Sivagami. Sure, we know the web series will star the likes of Rahul Bose, and Atul Kulkarni.
But what is the subject matter? Directors Deva Katta and Praveen Sataru have made it clear that the prequel backtracks about 50 years from the beginning of 'Baahubali-The Beginning'.
"The first part of 'Baahubali' movie was a singular emotion and singular conflict, now we are exploring it in a deeper way. You will also get deeper into the street level life and multi-layer life in the kingdom. We have the opportunity to explore different characters and their individual stories," the Katta-Sattaru duo say.
Taking inspiration from the epic stories Ramayana and Mahabharata, the directors want to make the prequel as a multi-dimensional series touching upon root stories and root psyche.
It will be out in 2019.
