'Baahubali' is inspired by 'Ambuli Mama': Kamal Haasan

Elements from Mahabharatha, Ramayana and Amar Chitra Katha (allegedly) aside, the story writer Vijayendra Prasad seems to have borrowed some points from the Tamil TV series 'Ambuli Mama' in writing 'Baahubali'. If Kamal Haasan is to be believed, the story is a rehash of 'AM' too, besides Mahabharatha. (Note: We don't know if Ambuli mama is an equivalent of Katappa mama!).
In an interview, the legendary actor said doing something because someone has done it is not him. He was asked about whether he would do something following in the foot steps of 'Baahubali'. He said that he was neither sheep or shepherd, but a different animal.
After a flurry of silly articles in the national media which claim that Bollywood can't bring out 'Baahubali' because of this or that (inconsequential) reason, it's refreshing to see Kamal get frank. At the end of the day, what an industry brings out is about what it is capable of conceiving at the ideational level. It's not about an actor willing to give 5 years of his time or allegedly postponing marriage, or a producer pooling in Rs. 450 Cr, and so on.
