The march of 'Baahubali-2' began yesterday with a thunder. Even as Karan Johar of Dharma Productions has said that the first day gross is "unimaginable" (the figures will be revealed later today), the figures for the Telugu States have been put out by the trade segments.
Standing at a share of more than Rs. 42 Cr in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the magnum opus is easily the biggest phenomenon that is going to happen to Tollywood. If the Nizam figure of Rs. 8.80 Cr is huge, the Ceded figure of Rs. 6.10 Cr is unprecedented. The East Godavari figures are pegged at more than Rs. 5.90 Cr. More than this are the West Godavari figures, which stand at Rs. 6.08 Cr. The Uttarandhra figures are at Rs. 4.52 Cr.
But the film's greatest show is not in the Telugu States, but in the US. There, it grossed USD 3 Million with just the Premieres. In all probability, it will clock a gargantuan USD 8 Million by the end of Sunday. If this tempo sustains, it will do a 'dangal' on 'Dangal' in the crucial North American territory.
As per a credible trade analyst, the figures turned in by the Hindi version on Day 1 make the Rajamouli film bigger than 'Dangal' and 'Sultan', which raked in Rs. 29 Cr and Rs. 36 Cr, respectively, in India.
The film is already expected to have scored a century, that is, one billion rupees on First Day!
