Expectations

Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi's 'Once Upon A Time in Mumbai' is loved by many film lovers. The director Milan Luthria also gave us some good films but his last one was one of the worst film ever made by him.

After a long gap, the director returns back with his latest film 'Baadshaho', which reunites Ajay and Emraan along with addition of Vidyut Jammwal. The song 'Mere Rashke' has become a rage and thus the expectation level are sky high.

Story

'Baadshaho' is a story set in the mid 70's era when our country was going through the emergency phase. A top politician Sanjeev (Priyanshu Chatterjee) decides to seek his revenge by recovering the hidden royal treasures of Gitanjali Devi (Ileana D'Cruz). Gitanjali is arrested and thus seeks help from her most loyal aid Bhawani (Ajay Devgn). The royal treasure is being shifted to New Delhi under the supervision of Army officer Seher Singh (Vidyut Jammwal). Bhawani decides to loot the royal treasure from the Indian army custody with the help of his friend Dalia (Emraan Hashmi), Tikla (Sanjay Mishra) and Gitanjali's advisor Sanjana (Esha Gupta).

The 'Glitz' Factor

The basic story line is simple and clearly visible from its trailer. It's the treatment which makes this movie special, especially in the middle portions.The moment film goes on its right track, it's a non-stop entertainer with good action-drama and thrilling points at various intervals. The interval twist is fantastic along with the one in pre-climax part.

There are some scenes related to Ajay, Emraan and Vidyut which are totally enjoyable. These scenes manages to keep you engaged as well as entertained in the film. The dialogues by Rajat Arora are fiery and goes well with the flow of the film.

The cinematography is of top notch and goes perfectly with the flow of the film.'Mere Rashke Qamar' lifts up the entire mood of the film. 'Piya More' featuring Sunny Leone is entertaining. 'Hoshiyaar Rehna' has been brilliantly placed in the film.

Director Milan Luthria comes up with a decent entertainer without going over the top like most of his contemporary directors have been doing. He delivers an out and out massey entertainer and that too in a stylish manner. The twist, characters, thrilling points, dramatic parts and story narration have been done in a decent manner.

Ajay Devgn looks powerful and has good dialogue delivery. Emraan Hashmi keeps the fun quotient intact. Vidyut Jammwal does his part with total grace. Ileana D'Cruz looks stunningly beautiful in every frame of the film. Sanjay Mishra, Sharad Kelkar and Denzil Smith lend great support.

The 'Non-Glitz' Factor

The movie takes some time to come on, its right track. The film fails to go with its era and one can spot many minor cinematic liberties. Esha Gupta's track is the weakest of all and fails to get registered.

The biggest negative point of this movie is its horribly bad abrupt ending. There is a fantastic fight sequence which is going on and all of sudden the movie ends without any closure related to any of these characters. All they had to do was to show few more scenes displaying the after effects. Failing to which the movie, despite being a good entertainer leaves a terribly bad taste in your mouth.

One did miss the omission of 'Socha Hai' in the second half. One does wonder why the director ended his entertainer in such an abrupt and half-hearted manner. Climax for such films is very crucial, failing to which the audience feel cheated and disappointed.

Esha Gupta is wasted and fails to connect at any level. Priyanshu Chatterjee looked good but needed a stronger role.

Final 'Glitz'

'Baadshaho' is good fun for all those who like time-pass masala entertainer. While for others, it's a strict no.
