Before listening to `Babul', Aadhesh Shrivastava to me was most reminder-worthy for his Kya Ada Kya Jalwe Tere Paro number from early nineties. Alright he was pretty good in `Baaghbaan' and `Bas Itna Sa Khwaab Hai' but he takes you completely by surprise with his range-n-mastery with varied moods in Ravi Chopra's `Baabul'. The rocking Come On Come On, Har Manzar or the somber Kehta Hai Babul, Baawri Piya Ki, Baabul-Bidai Song and the sensuously romantic Bebasi Dard Ka Alam are terrific numbers helped to a great extent by fabulous music arrangements. Keh Raha Hai, Gaa Re Mann and Vaada Raha are a bit of a disappointment but then I think there are at least a couple of songs more in this album. Remixes by DJ Suketu are fine too. In other words Baabul Music CD is a must buy. It's a collector's item.You shall love it!
The riveting energy is infectious as Come On Come On makes you shake that leg with Amitabh Bachchan continuing to rock with his uber cool Joy-Quotient. A bit of Punjabi- pop to begin with and then yo-yo rapper takes your breath away while the regular western beat is interspersed with tabla beats. Big B is in his element as he matches steps with the sexy Sonu Nigam. Aadesh Shrivastava and Ranjit Barot form part of the chorus while a sonorous female vocal croons English lyrics. The chemistry between Mr Bachchan and Salman Khan is great in the video of this number. Come On Come On will rock your party..So press the paddle on the volume and enjoy it loud.
The Come On Come On remix by DJ Suketu is just the right recipe for setting the dance floor on fire. Although, it's good for the hip crowd but the tempo of the original is ideal in itself to rock-n-roll. Nevertheless.It's a well produced remix that will find its takers.
Keh Raha Hai is a regular romantic duet between Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal. It's a pleasant song but it lacks lasting qualities. A dose of tabla, flute, strings, dhapli and predictable fillers make Keh Raha Hai a speed-breaker after a roller coaster Come On Come On. Fast Forward.
Har Manzar is a fantastic number for it grips attention the moment it kick starts with a simple-yet-invigorating rhythm. And then Kunal takes it to another level with his controlled and dripping-with-romance voice and alluring scatting. Sexy Female chorus adds more punch to push the envelope. The tempestuous saxophone, the soothing strings in the background, a late burst of electric guitars and a gushing-with-passion rhythm design makes you smile as you tread through the mountains of sensations on a cloud of temptations. The Remix of Har Manzar by DJ Suketu is a fun song. It has a different take on the manner in which mixing is done. There's an element of both club as well as a bit of lounge to it.
Kehta Hai Babul is a long song (over eight long minutes) yet it doesn't seem tedious. That's the beauty of a good song. It may be of shorter duration or it may be of a longer duration.The appeal is mesmeric. Good to find Aadesh Shrivastava discovering his true potential by composing this heartrending song. Enchanting violin, gentle tabla beats, whispering flute pieces and honey-almond voice of Jagjit Singh. What a treat! It's a crying heart of a father as he says goodbye to his daughter. By the end of it, your heart moistens as Sameer's lyrics poignantly makes the boat of sensitivity swim in the ocean of your eyes. Kehta Hai Babul is a jewel that one feels like listening again and again.
