Earlier this week, we had reported that the Tamil remake rights of Mollywood superhit 'Ayyapanum Koshiyum' starring Prithviraj and Biju Menon in the title roles are bagged by S Kathireasan, who has produced acclaimed films such as ‘Aadukalam’ and ‘Jigarthanda’. Now, the latest update is that the Telugu remake rights of the film are also sold. 'Ala Vaikunthapuramaloo' and 'Jersey' producer Suryadevara Naga Vamsi has reportedly bagged the Telugu rights. Meanwhile, it is also heard that the cast and crew of the Tamil movie are expected to be announced soon.
The revenge drama revolved around an ego clash between a police officer named Ayyappan Nair, played by Biju Menon, and a retired havildar named Koshy Kurian, essayed by Prithviraj. Director Ranjith also played an important role as Prithviraj’s father. Gowri Nandha and Anna Reshma Rajan played the female leads in the film written and helmed by Sachy. The movie hit the screens a month ago and was a huge success at the box-office grossing over rupees 50 crore. 'Ayyappanum Koshiyum' is produced by the banner Gold Coin Motion Pictures.
Meanwhile, Kalakkatha song, a unique single from the movie has now crossed 1 Crore views on YouTube and is counting. Thus, the Kalakkatha song has emerged as the most viewed Malayalam film song of 2020 so far. The song marked the playback singing debut of the senior folklore singer Nanjamma, who had also penned lyrics for the song. Jakes Bejoy, the popular young musician has composed the single.
