Despite being a mainstream star of Bollywood, Ayushmann Khurrana doesn't mind taking up scripts based on subjects which are considered taboo in the society. In fact, he made a bold statement by his very first 'Vicky Donor' as well which was centered around sperm donation. Vicky believes that his career took a sharp turn when he starred in R. S. Prasanna's film 'Shubh Mangal Saavdhan'.

Ayushmann played a guy with erectile dysfunction in the movie. Talking about it, he says, “I debuted in Bollywood with a bold taboo subject of sperm donation in ‘Vicky Donor’, thanks to Shoojit Da, and that showed me how the audience was changing and embracing subjects that were disruptive.”

Wide success of his films means that India is finally getitng ready to normalise the discussions about these taboo topics. Ayushmann says, "After ‘Vicky Donor’, ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’ reinstated my belief that the people of India want to discuss taboo topics out in the open and in their own way address them for the good of society. I felt that having a discussion on these things was necessary. ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’ gave me the courage to pick my subsequent films and put all my faith behind it."
