The construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya has been put on hold due to the rising Indo-China tensions. The trust that is in charge of the building of the temple at Sri Ram Janamsthan has reportedly expressed concern over the martyrdom of 20 Indian soldiers recently.
"The decision to begin construction of the temple will be taken according to the situation in the country and will be announced officially," a member of the trust has been quoted as saying by PTI.
The news agency on Friday also reported that the trust feels that "the situation at the India-China border is serious". Paying homage to the Indian bravehearts, it also said that defending the country is of paramount importance.
Amid growing anti-China sentiment across the country, members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad reportedly burned an effigy of Chinese President Xi Jinping and gave a call for the boycott of Chinese goods.
